A nationwide study cited in the New Scientist, looked at anonymized credit card receipts from a major online adult entertainment provider. It turns out that most porn viewing happens in states that are the most conservative and religious.

Credit card data that was referenced included customer's postal codes. The biggest consumer was Utah - averaging 5.47 adult content subscriptions per 1000 home broadband users. Number 10 was West Virginia at 2.94 subscriptions per 1000. Michigan at 41, averaged 2.32.

Interestingly enough eight of the top ten porno consuming states voted for John McCain - whereas six of the lowest favored Obama.

Another interesting take on the data is that residents of 27 states that passed laws banning gay marriage had 11% more porn subscribers than states that didn't restrict gay marriage.

But even the religious have their limits. According to the study less porn was purchased on Sunday.

I'm sure the Lord is impressed.
